TIDWELL MASONRY | CURRENT MASONRY PROJECTS IN SAN DIEGO

Proto II Block Wall in San Diego by Tidwell Masonry.jpg

5278 BLOCH STREET UTC SAN DIEGO - The wall has been built up to the second to the last course. This is when the steel bearing plates, DTI washer and high grade nut are installed. Using a Torque wrench, the nut is tightened to the required amount of tension. This is where the structual aspect of the Proto II wall comes into play. The Tension Rod hooked to the rebar in the Setting Pad and bearing plate are what creates the Post Tension when the nut is tightened. We will be laying the last course of block on top of this course and the wall will be completed.

Post Tension Masonry in San Diego by Tidwell Masonry.jpg

5278 BLOCH STREET UTC SAN DIEGO - Here we are tightening the tension nut using a Torque Wrench. After doing so, we are able to lay the last course of block in the wall. The wall has no need to be grouted using the Proto II Post Tensioning System. This saves are client on the cost of another Concrete truck and the pumper, plus the cost of labor to grout the wall. There is no reason not to build using Proto II.

sofia hotel 14.jpg

THE SOFIA HOTEL - 150 WEST BROADWAY DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO - We are going to be doing infills at the SOFIA HOTEL in Downtown. An "infill" is just filling in an opening or void. In this case, we'll be using brick that matches the original brickwork of the hotel. The original brick that was used to build this historical hotel isn't available anymore. THOMPSON'S BUILDING SUPPLY was able to find a close match for the owners of this hotel.

THE SOFIA HOTEL - 150 WEST BROADWAY DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO - We had done some other brick work on this historical brick hotel for Coats Construction. The hotel owners have asked us to come back and put a brick veneer on a back section of the hotel. This building used to be The Pickwick Hotel and is now called The Sofia Hotel. To read about the history of this historical brick hotel go here THE SOFIA HOTEL
